Amy Wilhite, 39, has pleaded guilty to a felony delivery or possession of a weapon at a county jail and was sentenced to 10 years in Missouri state prison
A Missouri woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for smuggling a loaded mini gun into a county jail inside her vagina – and the weapon was not discovered by corrections officers until more than two weeks later.
Amy Wilhite, 39, pleaded guilty on April 19 to a felony delivery or possession of a weapon at a county jail, and was handed a sentence of 10 years in state prison.
According to Missouri Department of Correction’s records, Wilhite is currently being held at the Women’s Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Vandalia.
Wilhite was originally arrested on drug and weapons charges on February 14 and booked into the Boone County jail.
Wilhite underwent both a ‘thorough’ pat search and a strip search at the jail, but guards failed to locate the miniature gun that was hidden inside her body cavity.

It was not until 17 days after Wilhite’s arrest that corrections officers discovered the smuggled firearm wrapped in plastic among her belongings in her jail cell, reported The Smoking Gun at the time.
The gun, which was fully loaded with five rounds, has been described as a North American Arms .22 caliber revolver.
It is 4 inches long, 2.38 inches tall and .88 inches wide, and weighing 4.6 ounces according to KOMU 8.
Wilhite admitted to possessing the gun, but claimed ‘she was only holding it for another female detainee,’ according to a probable cause. But fellow inmates in Wilhite’s housing unit ‘all stated Amy was in possession of the firearm.’
On April 19, Wilhite also pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance, and was sentenced to five years for each count, to run concurrently with her 10-year sentence.
State records reveal that Wilhite has been in and out of jail in Missouri since at least 2007 for various offenses, including attempted burglary, passing a bad check, driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, theft and first-degree burglary.

It is not the first time an inmate has smuggled a weapon into a prison by concealing it in a body cavity.
Back in 2017, a female inmate managed to smuggle a 22-caliber pistol into a jail holding cell at Santa Clara County Jail in California.
Officers later discovered the gun wrapped in toilet paper on a bathroom floor.
Meanwhile, in 2012, a North Carolina man managed to smuggle a 10 inch long .38 revolver into prison by hiding it in his rectum.
The man was even told to ‘squat and cough’ to make sure there was nothing concealed in a cavity, and he passed that test with flying colors.
However, the next day, prison guards uncovered the large weapon in his cell.
He received medical treatment for possible injuries sustained to his rectum.
The weapon was not loaded at the time, but it was test fired by officials who found it was in operational condition.
