Hot to get fresh hot McDonald’s fries EVERY time you order

A food blogger has shared his simple trick for getting crispy McDonald’s fries every time you order.

Johnny, from Instagram account Cake Mail, said you should ask for chips without salt because they will be made fresh rather than scooped out of the pre-prepared tray.

To prove his theory, Johnny ordered two portions of fries – one with salt, one without – then tested the temperature of each to determine which was fresher.

The salted chips read 24.3 degrees, while the unsalted box measured 36.9 degrees.

For this reason, Johnny said it’s best to order fries without salt and season them yourself.

The trick, which has racked up 2,058 ‘likes’ since it was uploaded online on April 13, has drawn varied responses.

‘I used to do this and I was so cocky with it that I would ask them for salt sachets after they gave me my food,’ one woman replied.

A second added: ‘So clever!’

But others argued ordering fries without salt was making life difficult for McDonald’s workers.

1. Place chips horizontally in paper takeaway bag – this slows heat from escaping.

2. Put burgers, chicken nuggets or other snacks on top of the chips to lock in heat.

‘This makes their job 10 times harder especially in busy periods, just ask for fresh fries,’ one woman said.

Some said they would rather forego freshness than go without the generous lashings of salt shaken over fries behind the counter.

‘I can’t do it. Their salt is too good!’ one man wrote.

The tip comes after a former McDonald’s employee revealed how to prevent crispy fries from going soggy.

Bruno Bouchet worked as a crew trainer at a McDonald’s Brisbane outlet while in high school from 2000 to 2003 between the ages of 14 and 17.

The now-35-year-old radio personality said there’s one ‘life hack’ he has been holding on to until now that would help solve a ‘super common problem’ most customers face: ‘How do you stop your chips from going soggy?’

‘When you’re in drive-thru, you get given your chips, they end up getting soggy. So I’m going to tell you… the error everyone makes is closing the top of the bag that contains the chips,’ Bruno told KIISFM radio duo Kyle and Jackie O.

‘Because you’d think if I make it nice and airtight, the heat will keep the chips warm – wrong, what it actually does is it steams the potatoes so you’re left with sloppy chips. So you’re actually steaming them when you close the bag.’

Bruno said there’s a simple way to get around the dilemma.

‘So the hack is simple, you need the heat to escape,’ he explained.

‘First things first, bag open. Secondly, you know how the chips are placed upwards in the bag? Put the chips horizontally because that would slow the rate of the heat escaping – it would go out one side rather than straight from the top.

‘Finally stack the bags so they’re horizontally at the bottom – and you put the burgers on top of the chips to keep them warm.

‘Let me recap, chips at the bottom, tip them horizontally, burgers on top, let the bag breathe – you’ll never have soggy chips ever again in your life, I guarantee it.’
