Gate attendant caught on video lying to police about being ‘run over’
A park employee in Texas has been fired after she called the police falsely claiming a visitor was running her over.
The gate attendant, who was a contractor with the US Army Corps of Engineers at the Cedar Breaks Park in Lake Georgetown, lost her job after she called 911 and repeatedly screamed down the phone ‘he’s running me over’, even though the vehicle was not moving.
Driver Chris Hampshire posted a video of the incident, which happened at around 8.47pm on August 25, on social media showing worker Judine Reed begging police to come and help.

In the two-minute clip viewed more than 150,000 times on YouTube and shared over 16,000 times on Facebook, the woman shouts down a phone in her hand ‘he’s a lunatic and he’s video-taping me’ before repeatedly shouting for ‘Mike’ to come and help.
She then told Hampshire ‘you’re in serious trouble, you’re going to jail’ and when he asked why she yelled, ‘you’re hurting me, you just ran over me’.
As she stood in front of his car the woman says to police, ‘please hurry’ and ‘he’s still moving’ as she banged on the car’s bonnet, even though he was standing outside the stationary vehicle recording the bizarre exchange.
He then got back in his car and tried to drive off saying ‘I have done nothing wrong’ as the agitated woman tries to shut the open gate and screamed ‘I want him arrested’ as she blocked his path.

Writing on YouTube, Hampshire said he was stopped by Reed after he accidentally turned towards the wrong exit after using his jetski.
He said: ‘The situation was me leaving a lake with my Jetski. Accidentally steered down the wrong exit while leaving, this parks and rec worker happened to be outside.
‘She saw me correct myself and I was about to leave the main exit point. At that point she started telling me she was calling the cops and I wasn’t allowed to leave.
‘I said no ma’am you’re mistaken, you can’t hold me here. She jumped in front of my car then this is when I pulled out my phone… shortly after the video ended she stepped out of the way to talk to the park rangers and I voiced that I was leaving being that this was unlawful from the beginning and I didn’t do anything illegal.
‘About a mile down the road I see 15 officers with sirens and lights speed pass me (they legitimately thought someone was being run over) quickly a few officers turned around, pulled me over and talk to me about what happened. Thankfully they were very calm and shortly after showing the video I was let go.’
Reed was a contract worker with the US Army Corps of Engineers at the Cedar Breaks Park but her contract was not renewed, a spokesman for the Army Corps of Engineers told MyStatesman.
Randy Cephus would not confirm why her contract was not renewed but added it was more ‘beneficial that she go on her way’.
Two Corps of Engineer Rangers overheard the radio call and went to the guardhouse to investigate.
The Rangers did not see any injuries to Reed or damage to the vehicle and decided no assault charge would be pursued, police said.

Forth Worth District of the US Army Corps of Engineers, who operates the park, wrote in a statement on its website: ‘We are aware of an incident which occurred with one of our contracted gate attendants at Cedar Breaks Park, Lake Georgetown.
‘We neither condone nor support this sort of behavior by our employees or contractors.
‘The incident occurred on August 25 and the gate attendant is no longer at the park or providing contracted gate attendant duties at any of our lakes.
‘Our goal is to offer a pleasant and safe recreation experience for all our guests.’
