Rumer Willis is heading back to the big screen for the first time in two years, landing a role in the new film My Divorce Party.
The 33-year-old actress and daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore has joined Michelle Meredith and Laith Ashley in the indie comedy, via The Hollywood Reporter.
The film recently completed production, marking the feature directorial debut of Heidi Weitzer.
The movie follows future divorcee Xan (Desiree Staples) who brings her closest friends together in Joshua Tree to celebrate her divorce.
What she hasn’t told her friends is that she plans on literally burning all of the cash she got in the divorce settlement and plans to start fresh.
Naturally, this causes quite the chaotic scene as every one of Xan’s friends has a different idea of how she should use the cash.
While Willis’ character was not revealed, she joins an ensemble cast that also includes Kimia Behpoornia, Sarah Hollis, Dionne Gipson and Cap Peterson.
Weitzer directs the indie comedy from her own script and will also executive produce the project.
Geenah Krisht and Adrienne Childress are serving as producers, while Staples and Sam Fox will executive produce alongside Weitzer.
‘I feel so privileged and grateful to be working with so many unbelievably talented women who I not only look up to and I admire since we’ve started, but who genuinely truly make me laugh,’ Willis said in a statement.
Willis appeared in a number of her parents’ movies as a child, such as Demi Moore’s Now & Then and Striptease and Bruce Willis’ The Whole Nine Yards and Hostage.
She ultimately broke off on her own with roles in The House Bunny, Wild Cherry and Sorority Row.
She also starred in the 90210 reboot and guest starred on Hawaii Five-0, Pretty Little Liars and had a recurring role on Fox’s Empire.
Rumer had a busy year in 2019, appearing as the Lion on Fox’s The Masked Singer, and also starring in movies What Lies Ahead and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
She also has another movie, Left With Only Rain, in post-production, starring alongside Richard Kind and Liana Liberato.
