A bride and groom are under fire after offering their wedding guests different meals at reception, based on how much money they had spent on the gift.
The invitation card stated anything under $250 was considered a gift of love – and guests who fell into this category would be eating the chicken or swordfish at reception.
Silver gift givers – those spending between $250 and $500 – were able to choose between sliced steak or poached salmon.

Golden gift givers spending between $500 and $1000 were able to access the filet mignon and lobster tails while the platinum gift giver who wanted to spend over $1000 on the couple could dine on a one-kilogram lobster and got to have a special champagne goblet.
All of the gift classes were also able to take a meal from the choices below their own.
But people were not impressed with the scheme.
‘Wow, slice steak – no way – I would just put in $5 and be happy with my chicken,’ one woman said.
‘How do they know people are going to mark the invitation correctly – they won’t know until after the gifts are opened and by then I will already be home with my fancy goblet,’ said another.
And others agreed – they would also just lie.
‘I am going to pay $50 for a lobster dinner and champagne flute and I am not going to regret it,’ one man said.
Adding insult to injury, anyone requiring a kosher or vegetarian meal was told they had to be in the platinum gift giving level to be able to apply for the variation.
‘At this point I am smuggling chickpeas in my purse,’ one woman laughed on the post.
‘So if I keep kosher or I’m vegetarian I have to pay $1000!? I’ll tell you what to do with your champagne goblet,’ said another.
‘I will just eat around the meat,’ said another.
Others wondered aloud what the vegetarian meal could be to warrant such a high price.
‘For those vegetarian seeking a $1000 dish to dine on tonight you will be eating: Black watermelon and truffle curry, topping a bed of wild rice cooked in pure Kona Nigari water. For dessert you will be having tiramisu made with the coffee beans that monkeys poop out,’ one man laughed.
The invitation was reposted from the Reddit thread to a wedding shaming group on Facebook.
Some people said they would skip the wedding altogether if they were given an invitation like this.

The people there were similarly impressed.
‘I hope this is fake – but with the things I have seen on here I doubt it is,’ one man said.
‘This is gross on so many levels – even if it is fake – because someone came up with it anyway,’ one woman said.
‘Who spends more than $250 on a wedding gift except like, immediate family or your best friend? And for like $20 max I can make my own filet mignon or salmon at home and it’ll probably be just as good,’ one woman said.
Others said the invitation was actually for a charity gala even where donations matched the meal.
But people said that didn’t make the lack of vegetarian options or anti-Semitic nature of the kosher meals being top tier any less vulgar.
