Glitter, real name Paul Francis Gadd, and Miss Martinez met in the 1990s, during his regular trips to Havana in Cuba, at a time when the city was notorious for bars where children could be bought for sex for £60 a night.

Glitter and the former farm girl embarked on a relationship which would see him hand her around £20,000 – a fortune in Cuba at the time – to buy a four-bedroom apartment in 1998 overlooking Havana’s seafront boulevard, the Malecon.
